My unending love affair with Iceland continues! Ólafur Arnalds in Camden may not be Reykjavík or Seljalandsfoss, but it's the closest I've managed to get to the island this year!

July was my recovery month! While I hadn't become spectacularly sick on my return from Africa, my stomach wasn't coping with the continent change all too well (sensitive immune system, 0/10 would not recommend). Coupled with having to continue my course of malaria tablets for another 30 days after returning from Africa - side effects include nausea (check), vomiting (check) and sensitivity to the sun (double check) - I was not exactly a happy bunny.

That said, I did manage to drag myself to a few exciting things...

After a long four days, we were at long last going to reach Uhuru Peak! I had known all along that summit night was going to be the hardest part of this trip but I hadn't really known what to expect. I knew the day would consist of four parts: trekking to Stella Point, walking along to Uhuru Peak, getting back to Barafu Camp and then walking to Millennium Camp... but other than that, I was in the dark when I awoke. Literally.

It's been an incredible long time since I've done a playlist! As with first year's playlist, I am totally packed (nope), ready to leave my flat (ha) and about to set off on the long journey back to London (unfortunately true yet again).
Around this time last month, I was being followed by a peacock.

Not by any means an aggressive peacock but I hadn't really expected to see one when we arrived at Harrop Fold Farm. Cows, sheep, chickens, the odd donkey... Those we saw too but peacock doesn't exactly spring to mind when you think of farm animals.

It's rare to discover music that perfectly expresses emotion but I found it yesterday seeing my favourite Icelandic composer, Ólafur Arnalds, perform in Leicester Cathedral.
